The year of review also saw the inception of a new radio station in Singapore. SPH UnionWorks announced that it would be launching its new radio station, Kiss 92, on 3 September 2012, after MDA awarded it a licence to operate a woman and family radio station on FM92.0.
The new radio station would serve a segment of the market previously not catered to by existing radio stations. The addition of this station brought the total number of local FM stations to 19.
