More than 300 SMEs are expected to participate in GenAI Sandbox 2.0 with new categories of GenAI solutions
SINGAPORE – 29 OCT 2024
1. Following the success of the first Generative AI (GenAI) Sandbox for SMEs, the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) will launch the second iteration of the GenAI Sandbox for SMEs (GenAI Sandbox 2.0). This is part of the efforts to enable local Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to further strengthen their AI capabilities and provide continued access to new GenAI tools in their digitalisation journey.
2. To be launched on 2 December 2024, IMDA’s GenAI Sandbox 2.0 will continue to help SMEs experiment, innovate and adopt AI tools in new business areas. The GenAI Sandbox 2.0 will provide a curated list of new GenAI-powered solutions across the following three solution categories:
- Generative Web Design (Marketing & Sales) – Prompt-based generation of websites and web layouts.
- Virtual Assistants for Customer Engagement Agents (Customer Engagement) – GenAI-powered solutions that support human agents in engaging customers (e.g. recommending context-aware replies, scheduling meetings post-call, etc.)
- GenAI for Talent Acquisition/Onboarding (HR Operations) – GenAI-powered solutions that support Human Resource personnel in streamlining their recruitment workflows (e.g. generating tailored job descriptions, screening candidates’ resumes, etc.)
3. The GenAI Sandbox 2.0 is expected to provide approximately 15 GenAI solutions across these three solution categories and benefit over 300 SMEs across all sectors. These solutions were jointly curated by a panel of industry users and technical experts (in partnership with SGTech), based on suitability for SMEs.
4. Upon launch, successful and eligible applicants will receive up to 50% grant support from IMDA to trial one of the GenAI solutions of their choice for three months. SMEs who are interested to adopt these solutions can register their interest via this FormSG link.
5. The first GenAI Sandbox for SMEs (GenAI Sandbox 1.0) was launched in February 2024 to enable local SMEs to access a list of pre-approved solutions over a 3-month period with the aim to better position them to implement GenAI solutions. GenAI Sandbox 1.0 concluded in May 2024 with more than 150 SMEs taking part in the Sandbox and approximately 80% of them continued to use solutions in the Sandbox after the 3-month period.
