International Relations

IMDA seeks to promote Singapore's interests in infocomm media (ICM) internationally and to work with our international partners to build a conducive and pro-enterprise environment for ICM companies. IMDA also contributes back to the global community by sharing our knowledge and experience with other countries.

ASEAN Working Group on AI Governance (WG-AI)

Chaired by Singapore's IMDA, the WG-AI drives the region's AI agenda. Established in March 2024, the WG-AI provides strategic coordination and leads the development of vital frameworks, fostering a vibrant, trusted AI ecosystem across Southeast Asia while navigating complexities and opportunities.

International Partnerships

IMDA enjoys close bilateral relations and partnerships with many countries around the world. IMDA also participates actively in international discussions on Infocomm Media (ICM) issues to shape and build an innovative and sustainable ICM environment.

Trade Facilitations

IMDA does this through collaborating with other countries on joint initiatives and entering into Free Trade Agreements and Mutual Recognition Arrangements to facilitate cross-border trade and minimise barriers to trade.

Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRA)

Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRAs) for telecommunications conformity assessment reduce technical barriers to trade in telecommunications equipment by allowing such equipment to be tested in the exporting country and assured acceptance in the importing country with minimal further regulatory action.

Digital FOSS

The Forum of Small States (FOSS) is an informal and non-ideological grouping of small states that was established by Singapore in 1992 to discuss issues of mutual concern. IMDA launched Digital FOSS in October 2022 to support FOSS initiatives by enabling deeper conversations on digital issues of relevance to small states.
