SINGAPORE – 03 DEC 2002
The new Media Development Authority (MDA) will be operational from 1 January 2003. However it made its first public appearance today when Mr David Lim, the Acting Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, launched the MDA logo at an event attended by some 800 local and foreign industry leaders and media at Sentosa this evening.
The launch of the MDA corporate logo by the Minister is a significant milestone for the media industry in Singapore as it marks the beginning of a new journey to build a thriving media ecosystem, to capture new opportunities, and to generate new values.
Amidst a dazzling show of music, lights, lasers, pyrotechnique and video display, the MDA logo was jointly launched by Minister, together with Dr Tan Chin Nam, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts and Chairman designate of MDA, and Mr Lim Hock Chuan, CEO designate of MDA. The logo was projected onto a water screen at the Musical Fountain to add a unique touch to the event.
Mr Lim Hock Chuan said, We are very pleased that many of our Singapore and overseas partners are able to commemorate this special occasion with us today. We take this opportunity to thank all industry members, whom we work and consult with to grow and advance the media business. With the formation of MDA, I am confident that together, we can make the Singapore media scene even more vibrant as we embark on this new journey to develop Singapore into a global media city.
