Findings of 5G industry use-cases supported by IMDA
IMDA’s efforts to drive the adoption and commercialisation of 5G solutions, through the testbeds and other efforts, have seen significant success.
IMDA, PSA, Singtel, M1
PSA continues to make waves as the world’s first 5G mmWave port operations trial sees progress. Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) achieved a reduction in latency by 50% compared to current 4G network. This will enable PSA to scale AGV operations at Tuas Mega Port beyond 2000 vehicles. Automated Rubber Tire Gantry cranes (aRTG) have also seen significant stability in terms of throughput low latency. 5G will enable PSA to completely automate its RTG operations and empower its staff for higher value job roles and upskilling in new areas of work.

IMDA, Razer, Singtel
IMDA’s partnership with Razer has also seen significant results. This first ever mmWave trial for Razer was conducted at Ngee Ann City and Singtel’s Comcentre and findings from this trial enabled a re-imagining of the mobile gaming experience with 5G-enabled gaming controllers. Based on learnings from this trial, Razer has launched the Razer Kishi V2, a universal mobile gaming controller that promises a “console-class gameplay experience” for smartphones. It also launched the Razer Arctech, a heat-dissipating mobile phone cover that supports the heavy processing load required for a seamless gaming experience.

Frequently asked questions
Singapore-registered enterprises who are interested to deploy or adopt new 5G solutions to harness the potential of 5G technology may apply for the grant.
Only Singapore-registered entities may apply for the grant. Non-Singapore registered companies may partner with Singapore companies to form consortiums to participate in the grant.
Defining Commercial Deployment - For End-user enterprises, solution should be deployed in live environment, where scale of deployment would be as per defined by Applicant at application stage. For Solutions Providers, solutions should be deployed at first customer’s operations.
Projects not realising commercialisation may be subjected to partial reimbursement, assessed on a case-by-case basis.
This is an open grant and enterprises may submit proposals whenever they are ready. However, proposals will be evaluated on a first-come-first-serve basis, and may be subject to availability of programme funding.
There will not be any trial spectrum allocated. The projects are to focus on commercial deployment of the 5G solutions and hence should be tapping on the commercial network rolled out by the Mobile Network Operators.
