H.E. Ingrida Šimonytė

H.E. Ingrida Šimonytė has been the Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania since December 2020. She was elected as a Member of the Lithuanian Parliament (the Seimas) twice – first in 2016 and again in 2020. During her tenure in the 2016-2020 Parliament, she served on various committees, including the Committee on European Affairs, Anticorruption Commission, Commission for the Rights of People with Disabilities, and also chaired the Committee on Audit. Starting in 2013, she became a Member of the Board at the Bank of Lithuania, and concurrently held positions as a lecturer and the President of the Council of Vilnius University. H.E. Ingrida Šimonytė also served as the Minister for Finance of the Republic of Lithuania from 2009 to 2012.

Besides her political and academic responsibilities, H.E. Ingrida Šimonytė volunteered for some NGOs during the pandemic. Currently, as the Prime Minister, she remains involved in different volunteering activities aimed at helping Ukrainian families forced from their homeland due to Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Stefan Schnorr has been serving as State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport since 2021. Prior to this role, he worked for many years at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, including as Director-General. His career includes further roles as Deputy Director for Federal Affairs at the Representation of Rhineland-Palatinate to the Federal Government and the European Union in Berlin and as Head of the Representation of Lower Saxony to the Federal Government in Berlin.

State Secretary Stefan Schnorr holds a degree in law from the University of Trier and completed his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Koblenz.

Professor Akiko Murakami

Akiko Murakami is Executive Officer, Chief Data Officer of Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. She delivers DX of P&C insurance utilizing digital technologies and AI for the purpose of innovation challenges with digital.

Prior to joining Sompo Japan in 2021, Akiko was a researcher of Natural Language Processing, social analysis and text mining at IBM Research for 16 years. After this, she represented Watson development as an architect at IBM for 5 years. She is involved in "resilient engineering" that utilizes IT for disaster recovery, mitigation, and risk management and founded “IT Disaster Assistance and Response Team” (IT DART) in 2015 and became a board member.

Akiko is also a board member of The Association for Natural Language Processing from Apr 2022. She was a part-time lecturer at the Disaster Prevention Research Institute, Kyoto University by Mar. 2024. In 2024, her background led her to become the Executive director of the Japan AI Safety Institute.

Professor Andreas Krause is a researcher, educator and innovator in artificial intelligence and machine learning. As full Professor of Computer Science at ETH Zurich, his Learning and Adaptive Systems group pursues award-winning research on principles underpinning reliable data-driven decision making under uncertainty, in theory and interdisciplinary applications. He furthermore serves as Max Planck Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, as co-director of the Swiss Data Science Center and founding Chairman of the ETH AI Center, and co-founded the startup LatticeFlow on reliable and trustworthy AI. He is also a member of the United Nations' High-level Advisory Body on AI.

Denise Wong

Assistant Chief Executive (Data Innovation & Protection Group) at Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore, Denise Wong’s scope of work includes developing forward-thinking governance on AI and data, driving a pipeline of AI talent, promoting industry adoption of AI, as well as building specific AI and data science capabilities in Singapore.

In her capacity as Deputy Commissioner of the Personal Data Protection Commission Singapore, Denise oversees the administration and enforcement of the Personal Data Protection Act (2012). Her key responsibilities include managing the formulation and implementation of policies relating to the protection of personal data, as well as issuing of enforcement directions for organisational actions.

Elizabeth Kelly

Director, U.S. AI Safety Institute, Department of Commerce, United States (Virtual)

Elizabeth Kelly is Director of the U.S. Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute (AISI) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Prior to AISI, Elizabeth served as Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy at the White House National Economic Council, where she helps lead the Administration's efforts on financial regulation and technology policy, including artificial intelligence. Elizabeth was a driving force behind the domestic components of the AI executive order, spearheading efforts to promote competition, protect privacy, and support workers and consumer, and helped lead Administration engagement with allies and partners on AI governance. She previously served as a senior policy advisor on the Biden-Harris Transition Team and in the Obama White House.

In the private sector, Elizabeth was Senior Vice President of Growth for Capital One Investing, which acquired United Income, a fintech start-up that she helped grow as SVP of Operations. Elizabeth holds a J.D. from Yale Law School, an MSc in Comparative Social Policy from the University of Oxford, and a B.A. from Duke University.

Juraj Čorba

Chair of AIGO, OECD and Policy Officer, Ministry of Informatisation of the Slovak Republic

Juraj Čorba (born in Bratislava, 1978), Chair of OECD Working Party on Artificial Intelligence Governance (AIGO) since January 2024 and member of OECD AIGO expert groups on risk and accountability and on AI Futures. Juraj is responsible for digital regulation and governance at the Ministry of Informatisation, Slovakia (expert position).

Juraj Čorba has led negotiations on behalf of Slovakia on the EU´s AI Act at Council of the EU and also on the first international Convention on Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law at the Committee on AI at the Council of Europe. Chair of the Reflection Group of European policy makers on general purpose AI/foundation models, operationally supported by The Future Society. Former agent of Slovakia before the Court of Justice of the EU and former practising private legal counsel specialising in EU economic regulatory affairs. Studied law and political science (Comenius University, Bratislava; Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London).

Peter Mattson

Peter Mattson is a senior staff engineer at Google. He founded and is President of MLCommons, and founded and was General Chair of the MLPerf consortium that preceded it. Previously, he founded the Programming Systems and Applications Group at Nvidia Research, was Vice President of software infrastructure for Stream Processors Inc (SPI) and was a managing engineer at Reservoir Labs. His research focuses on understanding AI models and data through quantitative metrics and analysis. Peter holds a PhD and MS from Stanford University and a BS from the University of Washington.

Thomas Tay

Thomas Tay is the Assistant Director of Products at the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore, where he oversees the portfolio of AI and AI governance products.

Thomas is responsible for the development of the AI Verify Toolkit, a pioneering solution to enable responsible AI deployment. He plays an active role with the AI Verify Foundation, collaborating with the tech community on initiatives in AI governance. Within the Business and Technology Group, Thomas and his team drive product development and experimentation in emerging areas such as AI, privacy, and trust.

Wael William Diab

Chair, ISO/IEC, AI Standards Committee

Wael William Diab is a business and technology strategist with more than two and half decades of executive experience at Fortune 500 companies in Silicon Valley. He is a prolific inventor with more than 900 patents to his name in the ICT field and an industry recognised expert on digital transformation. Skilled in leadership for breakout technology, Diab has architected strategy, driven industry-wide initiatives, cultivated partnerships, identified M&A opportunities and orchestrated company roadmaps for transformational fields including AI, IoT and sustainability.

Wael has BS and MS degrees in EE and BA in Economics from Stanford, and an MBA with honours from Wharton. He is a published author, having authored the book Ethernet in the First Mile: Access for Everyone. In 2011, Wael was recognized by the David Packard Medal of Achievement and Innovator Award for his leadership in Green Technology. In 2023, Wael received the ANSI Meritorious Service Award.

Wael has been active in standardisation and related activities for over two decades. He chairs ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 42, the international standardisation committee on artificial Intelligence (AI) looking at the holistic AI, analytics, and Big Data ecosystems. Wael led the development of and chairs the ISO/IEC AI workshop series. In September 2023, ISO recognised the ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 42 (AI) committee and Wael, for his leadership, through the 2023 Lawrence D. Eicher Leadership Award. This prestigious award recognises the significant contribution and superior performance of an ISO committee. Wael has led global AI forums such as at the 22nd Global Standards Collaboration (GSC-22).

At the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC), Wael is the Secretary of the Steering Committee and chairs the Liaison Working Group, Technology Working Group, Industrial AI Task Group and Global Event Series Task Group. He is a lead author of the Industrial IoT AI Framework (IIAIF), Industrial Analytics: The Engine Driving the IIoT Revolution whitepaper and the Industrial IoT Analytics Framework (IIAF). He is a recipient of the IIC Individual Contributor Award. Wael is a member of the IoT Solutions World Congress Program Committee and chairs its AI forum.

Professor Yi Zeng

Yi Zeng is a Professor from Chinese Academy of Sciences, serving as the Director at the Brain-inspired Cognitive Intelligence Lab, and the International Research Center for AI Ethics and Governance. He is a member of the UN High-level Advisory Body on AI, He is the founding Director for the AI for Sustainable Development Goals Cooperation Network, as well as Center for Long-term AI. He is an expert in the UNESCO Ad Hoc Expert Group on AI Ethics, an expert in the WHO Expert Group on the Ethics/Governance of Artificial Intelligence for Health, and a board member of the National Governance Committee of Next Generation Artificial Intelligence in China. His major research interests focus on Brain-inspired Artificial Intelligence, AI Ethics and Governance, AI Safety, and AI for Sustainable Development.

Yonghua Lin

Vice President, Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence, China

Yonghua Lin is the Vice President and CTO of Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence, responsible for AI System and Foundation Software for large models, and industry ecosystem cooperation. She is member of IEEE Women in Engineering Asia Pacific Leadership Team. Formerly the Director of IBM China Research Lab and Distinguished Engineer at IBM, she led global AI system innovation within IBM. She has been engaged in research on system architecture, cloud computing, AI systems, computer vision, and other fields for nearly 20 years. She has won the ACM/IEEE Best Paper awards. She was named one of the "50 Leading Female Tech Leaders in China" by Forbes in 2019.

Dr Hiroaki Kitano is Executive Deputy President and Chief Technology Officer of Sony Group Corporation, overseeing the R&D ecosystem across Sony's diverse business, including electronics, semiconductors, and entertainment. Additionally, he is the CEO of Sony Research Inc. and Sony Computer Science Laboratories, Inc. (Sony CSL). His work at Carnegie Mellon University to build large-scale data-driven AI systems on massively parallel computers led to The Computers and Thought Award from the International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI) in 1993. The quest continued at Sony CSL and at California Institute of Technology gave rise to the field of systems biology, merging biology and systems science.

Ieva Martinkenaite

Senior Vice President, Research and Innovation, Telenor Group

Ieva Martinkenaite leads the Research and Innovation unit in Telenor Group. She has more than 15 years of experience in product development, business research and advisory. She holds several high profile regional and national appointments in AI. Among those are Board memberships in Norwegian Open AI-lab, Norwegian Research Council Advisory Expert Group on AI, International Advisory Board of Flanders AI, and the Singapore´s Government International Advisory Council on Ethical use of AI and Data.

Concurrently, Ieva leads a joint AI task force of Europe’s largest telecommunication operator association ETNO and GSMA Europe. During 2018-2020, Ieva represented Telenor in the EC’s High-Level Expert Group on AI which provided ethical guidelines for building Trustworthy AI in Europe.

Professor Kwok Yan Lam

Professor Kwok Yan Lam is the Associate Vice President (Strategy and Partnerships) and Professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He is currently also the Executive Director of the National Centre for Research in Digital Trust (DTC), Director of the Strategic Centre for Research in Privacy-Preserving Technologies and Systems (SCRiPTS), and Director of NTU’s SPIRIT Smart Nation Research Centre.

From August 2020 to August 2023, Professor Lam was also on part-time secondment to the INTERPOL as a Consultant at Cyber and New Technology Innovation. In 2018, Professor Lam founded TAU Express Pte Ltd as an NTU start-up upon successful completion of the Intelligent Case Retrieval System (ICRS) project, performed in collaboration with the Singapore Judiciary under the SPIRIT Smart Nation Research Centre.

In 2012, Professor Lam co-founded Soda Pte Ltd which won the Most Innovative Start Up Award at the RSA 2015 Conference. He received his B.Sc. (First Class Honours) from the University of London in 1987 and his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge in 1990. Professor Lam has been an active Cybersecurity researcher since 1980s. His research interests include Distributed and Intelligent Systems, Multivariate Analysis for Behavior Analytics, Cyber-Physical System Security, Distributed Protocols for Blockchain, Biometric Cryptography, Homeland Security, Cybersecurity and Privacy-Preserving Techniques.

In 2020, Professor Lam authored a Technical Report on the “Application of Quantum Computers for Law Enforcement and Security Communications” for a Singapore Government ministry. Professor Lam is the recipient of the 2022 Singapore Cybersecurity Hall of Fame Award.

Natasha Crampton leads Microsoft’s Office of Responsible AI, as the company’s first Chief Responsible AI Officer since 2019. The Office of Responsible AI puts Microsoft’s AI principles into practice by defining, enabling, and governing the company’s approach to responsible AI. The Office of Responsible AI collaborates with stakeholders within and outside the company to shape new laws, norms, and standards to help ensure that the promise of AI technology is realized for the benefit of all.

Natasha is a member of the UN AI Advisory Body, bringing together stakeholders from government, industry, civil society, and academia for essential conversations around global AI governance. She also served on the expert advisory group for the implementation of UNESCO's Recommendation on the Ethics of AI.

Dr Ong Chen Hui

Dr Ong Chen Hui is the Assistant Chief Executive of Business and Technology Group at the Infocomm and Media Development Authority of Singapore, where she oversees the agency’s efforts in developing the industry and research ecosystem around emerging technologies.

Dr Ong developed the A.I. Verify toolkit for governance of AI, launched National Multimodal LLM R&D programme, Future Communications R&D Programme to support 6G research, Digital Trust Centre to support research into trust technologies, National Quantum Safe Networks Plus Programme to support business access to quantum safe communications and the 5G Innovation Programme to support industries in adopting 5G.

Dr Ong is the chair of Singapore Women-in-Tech and one of the honorees of Singapore 100 Women in Tech 2021.

Professor Petri Myllymäki

Director, Helsinki Institute for Information Technology

Petri Myllymäki is a professor of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the University of Helsinki, Finland. He has over 35 years of experience in artificial intelligence research, and his applied research has led to a number of fielded applications, patents and start-ups. He is a member of the Finnish Academy of Technology and the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, and is the Director of the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology, and the Vice-Director of the Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence.

Professor Petri is working as a member of the UN High-Level Advisory Body on AI, a member of the Board of Directors of the AI, Data and Robotics PPP, and as the director of external relations for the pan-European ELLIS network of excellence in machine learning.

Shameek Kundu

Shameek is the Chief Strategy Officer at California startup TruEra, where he helps to build a new business around testing and monitoring predictive and generative AI. Until 2020, he was Group Chief Data Officer at Standard Chartered Bank. Outside his day job, Shameek is closely involved in regulatory initiatives around AI governance. He is a member of the Singapore Government's Advisory Council on AI and Data Ethics, co-chairs the data governance working group at the Global Partnership on AI and was one of the authors of the MAS FEAT guidelines on Responsible AI.

Ren Yeong Sng

Managing Director, Artificial Intelligence Strategy and Solutions, Temasek

Ren Yeong Sng is Managing Director at Temasek and is responsible for the investment company’s AI venture building efforts and investments, with a focus on accelerating the deployment of AI technologies to create scalable AI products and solutions, as well as new AI-focused revenue opportunities.

He is also a Board Director at minden.ai, a Temasek-founded technology venture seeking to redefine the engagement between brands and consumers in Southeast Asia. minden.ai is behind yuu Rewards Club in Singapore.

Ren Yeong currently represents Temasek on the Board of Aicadium, Temasek’s AI Centre of Excellence, of which he was a founding member. Aicadium comprises a team of global, best-in-class AI talent seeking to empower companies to achieve better business outcomes through the adoption and delivery of AI technologies and solutions. He joined Temasek in 2012, and before his current roles, was with the Portfolio Development team. The Portfolio Development team partners various major portfolio companies of Temasek, working closely with their Boards and management teams on strategic positioning and value creation initiatives, for sustainable and profitable long-term growth.

Prior to joining Temasek, Ren Yeong was a pioneer member in a local hedge fund start-up focused on Asian equities for about four years. He started his career as a military officer with the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), having obtained the SAF Merit Scholarship for overseas studies. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics (First Class) from the London School of Economics and Political Science and holds a Master of Arts in International and Development Economics from Yale University.
