SG Women in Tech Rallies Community And Industry For Singapore’s Inaugural 100 Women in Tech List

SINGAPORE – 30 MAR 2020

Capping off International Women’s Day activities in March, the Singapore Computer Society (SCS), in partnership with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and Mediacorp announced that it welcomes nominations for the inaugural Singapore 100 Women In Tech (or SG 100 Women In Tech) list. This is part of the SG Women in Tech (SGWIT) initiative, which brings together industry, government and community partners to attract and develop more girls and women for the growing tech sector in Singapore.

The SG 100 Women In Tech list will feature the diversity of roles and highlight female role models in the infocomm technology industry. It aims to celebrate women who have made significant contributions to tech in Singapore over the past year, by uncovering their stories of how they have made a difference in tech. The women nominated could be the coder who is famed for her coding skills, the AI specialist who has developed new algorithms for healthcare, the entrepreneur who has scaled her start up, the influential business leader who has grown her business and mentored others, or the community leader who has inspired girls and women to love tech. It is hoped that through the SG 100 Women In Tech list, more young girls will discover their interest and passion in science, technology, engineering and math.

The Call For Nominations opens from 30 March 2020 to 30 April 2020. Individuals and corporations can go to https://go.gov.sg/100sgwomenintech to submit their nominations. Contributions and achievements of nominees should be inspiring, influential and impactful, and they should demonstrate qualities such as leadership, tech expertise and community advocacy. Nominations should also include a short description or definition of nominees’ area of tech specialisation.

The List will be selected by a committee comprising both men and women from academia, industry and business leaders. It will be chaired by Lim Swee Cheang, Senior Advisor and former CEO of the Institute of Systems Science, National University of Singapore.
