- The Elections Department had earlier announced that the Government will be providing venues that candidates can apply and use for e-rallies at specific timeslots throughout the day during the campaign period as an alternative to physical rallies in view of the COVID-19 situation.
- The Government will provide venues (up to 10 a day) at the Suntec Singapore Convention Centre and timeslots for live streaming i.e. e-rallies beginning from 1 July 2020 to 8 July 2020 during the following hours:
- 7.00am to 10.00am
- 12.00pm to 3.00pm
- 7.00pm to 10.00pm
- Candidates or their election agents can submit their applications via the Candidate Services page on ELD’s website from 8am to 1pm for timeslots on the following day. In the event where the number of applications exceed the number of available timeslots, a ballot will be conducted to determine successful applications. The venues will be available at a nominal rate of $107.
- The e-rally venues will come equipped with Internet connectivity. Similar to physical rallies, beyond the basic technical setup furnished onsite at the recording venues, candidates are expected to make their own arrangements for filming and live streaming, to ensure the successful delivery of their own livestreams.
- Candidates should ensure that the Internet platforms that the e-rallies are streamed on meet the relevant requirements, e.g. these platforms must have been declared to the Returning Officer, and that the content of their e-rallies complies with the Internet Code of Practice (ICOP) and other applicable laws. The use of these venues by candidates is optional: online campaigning in the form of live streaming can be carried out without the use of these venues.
