Stamp Advisory Committee

As postage stamps serve as a representation and tribute to a country's heritage, culture, values, and national accomplishments, it is important that they adhere to the highest content standards and meet the regulations set out by IMDA. The Stamp Advisory Committee (SAC) was set up in May 1994 to advise IMDA and the Government on general philately matters.

The SAC is also responsible for evaluating and recommending to IMDA the appropriate themes and designs to be used on stamps.

Role of SAC

The role of the Stamp Advisory Committee (SAC) is to provide advice on philatelic matters as follows:

  1. To consider and make recommendations on themes to be adopted for stamp issues.

  2. To consider and make recommendations on selected designs to be adopted for stamp issues.

  3. Give advice to IMDA and the Government on philatelic matters as and when required or requested to.

Stamp Programme and Stamp Themes Selection Criteria

Given the significance of postage stamps in depicting various important aspects of a nation and the limited places in a year's stamp programme, proposed stamp themes must satisfy the stamp theme selection criteria before they would be considered for a stamp issue.
